American teenager wins Miss World 2010

American teenager, Alexandra Mills has won the Miss World 2010 in Southern China.

Mills, a blonde, blue-eyed 19 yearold from Kentucky, was openly emotional and tears were plentiful when Kaiane Aldorino, placed the tiara on her head.

Kaiane, Miss Gibraltar and last years Miss World, then led Mills to her diamond shaped throne as she was crowned Miss World 2010, on it’s 60th anniversary.

Alexandra Mills, a professional model with Elite Models agency, waved to the 2000 audience at the Beauty Crown Theatre in the resort town of Sanya on Hainan Island.

Miss World draws a world wide telelvision audience of around one billion.

Mills said that her month spent touring China with the other 114 contestants made a big impact on her life.

Botswana’s Emma Wareus was second, and Venezuela’s Adriana Vasini was third.

The Miss World Pageant got off to a colourful start with a performance from dancers and drummers who mainly live on Hainan Island, which was hosting the event for its 5th time in eight years.
