Stormtrooper walks across Australia

Motorists in Australia may be treated to the surprising sight of a Star Wars Stormtrooper at the side of the road over the next few weeks.

Star Wars enthusiast Jacob French is walking the 3,106 miles from Perth to Sydney to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation – and is wearing his favourite costume for the event.

Jacob does not, however, look quite as menacing as the big screen Imperial Army, as he has to carry his stuff with him on a trolley.

‘Over the course of the trek I will cross four states and cover approximately 5,000km in modified Stormtrooper armour,’ he explained on the Trooper Trek 2011 website.

‘The plan for now is to push a lightweight buggy with needed supplies and average a distance of 35-40km for five days a week until the trek is complete.’

The expedition isn’t Jacob’s first charity mission, as he is a member of the Terror Australis Garrison of the 501st Legion – an organisation that stages Star Wars-themed fundraisers.

Last year, he ran a half marathon in Melbourne while wearing a full Stromtrooper costume.
