Will search continue for missing fisherman?

Queensland police will decide on today whether to call off the search for a missing Irish tourist.

The 21-year-old Irishman working as a crewman, went missing from a commercial fishing vessel on Friday.

Nine aircraft – four planes and five helicopters – along with three rescue vessels resumed the search at first light on Sunday, scouring waters northeast of Mackay, as well as islands and the shoreline in the area.

Recreational boat users and fishermen have been asked to keep a lookout and to contact police if they find anything.

Police say his next of kin in Ireland have been contacted, but at this stage they don’t plan to come to Australia.
