Under the old regime, it was one of the most liberal places in North Africa. Women dressed how they liked, wine was served with food.
Now it’s fast-forwarded to the middle ages with Christians slain and Islamic groups closing red-light districts. A Polish Catholic priest has been found with his throat slit. There are reports of unveiled women being hassled. So don’t hold your breath for an “Arab Spring.”
