Paul the predicting octopus has died

Paul the Octopus, which won unlikely world-wide fame, after correctly predicting a host of World Cup matches has died.

His owners say he appears to have passed away peacefully of natural causes.

Paul predicted the winners of all Germany’s World Cup clashes, and then the final, by selecting 1 of 2 boxes, each loaded with a mussel filled treat. And marked on the outside with one of the teams.

Paul will be given a permanent memorial at the German sea-life centre, he called home, and is destined to live on in a range of commercial enterprises.

A documentary is to be released next year.
