Casey Dellacqua along with mixed doubles partner wins French Open

Australia’s Casey Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky of the United States defeated defending champions Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia and Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic to win the French Open mixed doubles title on Thursday.

Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky defeated defending champions Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia and Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic in a hard-fought three set battle.

Their 7-6 (8-6) 4-6, 10-7 win prevented the top seeds from claiming a third title in Paris having also triumphed in 2006.

Dellacqua could hardly hold back her excitment after winning her first major.

“I never thought I would win a Grand Slam title. It’s really exciting,” said 26-year-old Dellacqua, whose singles ranking has slumped to 317 in the world after being at a high of 39 in 2008.
