Fractured Freddie Flintoff floored

Cricketer Freddie Flintoff was rushed to hospital with a fractured rib while filming his new extreme sports show, it was revealed last night.

Freddie, 33, was floored while training for a wrestling tag match with his old England team-mate Darren Gough in Mexico.

The star was given an X-ray and told he had broken a rib.

Freddie said, “You get all these injuries playing cricket, and this was the first day I was doing this sport and I fractured a rib.

“I was gutted about it. I was embarrassed as well.”

The shows spokeswoman said: “His physio sent him to the hospital.

“The X-ray revealed he wouldn’t be able to take part in the wrestling challenge that evening.”

In the show, Freddie Flintoff versus The World, the former Test ace also takes on Darren at cliff diving and paintball para-gliding.

The eight-part series shows Freddie taking on a host of other retired sportsmen, including Dennis Wise, Iwan Thomas and Dennis Rodman, in challenges such as bull-riding and wing-walking.

The show will be screened from January 25.
