Tim Cahill wants Australian soccer to improve

Tim Cahill insists he’s not the saviour of Australian football but is determined to improve the production line of future talent coming through to the national team.

The Socceroos World Cup qualifier against Oman should be relatively easy…but you can never be too over confident.

The 31-year-old, who plays in the Barclays Premier League with Everton,  is a proud, long-time servant of his country but is now among a number of experienced Socceroos who are nearer the end of their careers than the start.

But even when the time comes for Cahill to call it a day he will not be turning his back on his homeland as he is determined to give something back to the sport.

The attacking midfielder had already begun the ball rolling with the establishment of his Tim Cahill Coaching Clinics but now his vision is to develop the program across Australia to give youngsters the best possible chance to realise their dreams to follow in his footsteps.

“I am passionate about trying to help development in Australia and give kids a vision and a goal to help them see what they can achieve,” Cahill said.

“The main objective for me is to share what I have experienced in these 15 years by having these clinics, by changing grassroots and making sure I focus on the six to 10-year-olds and the 10 to 15-years-olds.

“I want to show them what I have learned, the coaches who I have coached with and the people I bring toAustraliato help give the kids an added bit of spice and that dream of playing overseas.

“I am not going to say I am going to save Australian football but one thing I am going to do is make sure kids leave with a smile, good technique and parents that are happy.”
